Ingredients

  • 2 sticks of sweet butter
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs,lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups sifted unbleached all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • spatula
  • oven

Directions

  1. Cream butter and both sugars in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, milk and vanilla and beat until blended.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together and add to the butter mixture. Stir just enough to blend.
  4. Stir in oats.
  5. Fold in chocolate and walnuts.
  6. preheat oven to 350. Grease cookie sheets ( or use parchment ).
  7. Shape dough into balls ( spoon sized ) place on cookie sheet.
  8. Bake until edges are slightly browned 8-10 minutes.
  9. left over dough may be refrigerated ( cover with plastic wrap so it doesn't dry out)
  10. Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes.

Notes

  • Easy to pop a few in the oven after making the dough
  • Better if golden brown around the edges
